Info: ThePodere Monastero winery is located in Castellina in Chianti, in the heart of Tuscany, about 500 meters above sea level. It was established in 2000 by owner and winemaker Alessandro Cellai with the sole objective of producing a great Pinot Noir. The area planted with vines is 3 hectares, of which only 1.5 are destined for Pinot Noir. The remaining 1.5 are devoted to Cabernet Sauvignon (50 percent) and Merlot (50 percent). The choice of soils was of paramount importance and even more so was the choice of clones and rootstocks, which required a very long research work carried out among the most prestigious nurserymen in France. Pinot Noir, although not easily adaptable in Italy, is considered one of the best vines in the world, capable of giving wines of extraordinary elegance and harmony.
