Chianti Classico 2022 at Chianti Classico Collection

Chianti Classico Collection 2024

The latest vintage of Chianti Classico previewed at the Chianti Classico Collection was not an easy vintage, but it was interpreted very well by several producers, giving us well-balanced and very enjoyable wines.

Usual presentation at the Stazione Leopolda in Florence of the new vintages of Chianti Classico in all its versions. On the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chianti Classico consortium, DoctorWine’s internal draw for “who tastes what” also awarded me the Chianti Classico 2022.

I am rima
am very pleased with the producers’ interpretation of the vintage, which as you all remember was decidedly hot. The wines were found to be. Balanced, ready to drink and very pleasant with, within them, discernible differences according to corporate style and backgrounds. A sign of the producers’ skill in managing both the vineyards and the harvest. Skill, moreover, in the ability to carry out fermentations suitable for enhancing the characteristics of the vintage without launching into Pindaric flights that would have tremendous relapses at the tannic level or missing acidity.

Chianti Classico Collection 2024, the bottles
Chianti Classico Collection 2024They may not last very long, but the concept of Chianti Classico vintage as a wine primarily
to be drunk with great satisfaction and easily matched, is absolutely clear.

Just one note: some wines were not yet bottled, but those reported are already in pre-bottling “mass”, thus final. They probably wanted to avoid bringing freshly bottled wines to the kermis with the associated sulfur dioxide not fully integrated.

These are, of all people, my magnificent 8. We sorted them in order of price (average, on-shelf) from the least expensive, in the spirit of this column.
