A tasting of the Piedmont-based winery Vietti's 15 upcoming wines demonstrated the absolute quality of the entire range.
A beautiful Roman evening at Achilli in Parliament, featuring new vintages of products from Vietti. Vietti represents about 150 years of Langa activity, an absolute reference point in the Barolista and barber world, even in that of Asti. Products that have always been of high quality and brought to excellence by that genius of Luca Currado.
The company has its center of operations in Castiglion Falletto since its founding, this means deep roots but with an innovative streak that makes you “fire” and not self-referential ashes. A fire that had the cru codified as the company’s eyelet from the start. In 2015, the company was taken over by the Krause family who began a “buying campaign” among the super classic crus of the Barolo and Barbaresco: Cerequio, Rabajà, Monvigliero. They “fell into temptation” with the Timorasso but this is the drift of today’s Barolists.
Luca Currado left the winery in early 2023 and as a result all the wines presented are still his creations and you can feel it in the stylistic consistency and in the absolute quality across the range. On the farm with him for 22 years is production manager Eugenio Palumbo, who presented the various crus. Think about it: out of 15 wines presented, the worst would deserve a good review. These are our samples, you will read more about them in detail in the next edition of the Essential Guide:
