To celebrate New Year’s Eve

The midnight toast is somewhat of a rite of passage, although it is now increasingly commercialized. We like to imagine it at home, among friends, with an unassuming, special bottle that can be the emblem of a different, better year.

Lasterosse By Peter and Silvia Pancheri. is a tiny winery with adjoining farmhouse in the enchanting place that is Val di Non, Trentino. You would expect apple orchards as far as the eye can see, and of course there are, but you also find a few vineyards and truly mountain wines, Just like this Metodo Classico Sparkling Wine from grapes Groppello Obviously vinified in white. A blanc de noirs, in short, such as one finds on the Montaigne de Reims, and which brings to mind certain Ambonnay Champagnes, such as Paul Dethune’s, with which the comparison comes naturally.

Light and racy this fragrant Lasterosse Extra Brut. A real surprise to be won by going and buying it directly from them.

I have a bottle in the cellar and will open it on New Year’s Eve, at home, with a few friends and good food, toasting in the hope that the coming year will be a little better than the past one. It takes little, but you never know, unfortunately.

Best wishes to everyone anyway and let’s move on.
