Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris, Prowein and Vinitaly within two months. Are three wine fairs in Europe too many? It is too early to tell, but it does not seem that Vinitaly, the Italian trade fair, is being challenged. We will be waiting for you in Hall 10 - C2.
Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris was there from February 10 to 12. ProWein in Düsseldorf just ended on March 12. Vinitaly Verona will be there in mid-April. Three international wine fairs in Europe alone, and many producers are beginning to wonder if that is too many.
Certainly the relocation of Vinexpo from Bordeaux to Paris clearly improved the effectiveness of that fair. The French capital is easily accessible from all over the world, the hotel reception is adequate, and the logistics were excellent. Result: great success and the grand entrance into the roster of major world events, after a few so-so editions. Even Italian participation, generally not huge, was significantly higher than in the past.
Prowein perhaps suffered a bit from the French escalation. Düsseldorf is less reachable, hotel costs are high, and there have been fewer visitors than in the past, although, let’s remember, this is a trade show dedicated to the trade and therefore should be evaluated on the turnover it produces and not on the number of visitors.
For Vinitaly In Verona there is much anticipation. It is the Italian wine fair par excellence, it will be from April 14 to 17, and the measure of its success will be determined precisely by theinterest of international and Italian operators to this specific area. It will, in short, be a measure of how well the wine sector, especially the Italian one, will be able to respond to a slowdown we are witnessing for several reasons. Inflation, wars, post-pandemic in particular, but also climatically complicated years, such as 2023 in several regions.
Verona has improved over the years as a logistical organization. It is a city with a vocation for trade fairs as well, and it succeeds better than in the past in absorbing the tens of thousands of operators and exhibitors who will reach it. These are concrete aspects that are sometimes underestimated in analyses of these topics, but they have, in my opinion, tremendous importance.
We at DoctorWine, as you may already know, will be there. At hall 10, C2. The booth will be called Vinitaly Tasting – the DoctorWine Selection., as it has for many years now, enshrining an established partnership with the Fair Authority. We will organize seminars, there will be sixty wines available to visitors in the dispensers Under nitrogen. All Italians. Of course, we hope for the success of the event and to see many of our readers come to visit us as well.
We are waiting for you, in short.
