Nicodemo Librandi, a central figure in Calabrian wine, a doctor and professor of mathematics as well as founder of the winery of the same name in Cirò Marina, Calabria, has passed away.
An outstanding wine entrepreneur, he has been a benchmark for the qualitative growth of traditional grape varieties and a proponent of international momentum from his winery.
Daniele Cernilli and the entire DoctorWine editorial staff extend their sympathies to the family in this time of grief.
This is the greeting of his family and company employees:
“Dear Professor,
Your departure has left a deep void in our hearts. You left on tiptoe, as modestly as you lived, and yet, your impact was extraordinarily powerful.
You have been an example to us, a teacher, a guide. Your righteousness, your exceptional work ethic and your unwavering connection to wine, the vineyard and your beloved land, to which you were close until your last moment, inspired us deeply.
Beacon of wine Calabria, pioneer and visionary, bold and concrete actor in a renaissance to which you have dedicated a lifetime. With your commitment and deep dedication, you have traced an indelible path in Calabrian viticulture, becoming a protagonist of its renewal and paving the way for all of us to follow for the future.
A loving husband, a devoted father, a loving uncle and grandfather, an enlightened entrepreneur loved by his staff, but most of all, a great man.
Hi Prof.
And thank you.”
