What happens to corks?

Che fine fanno i tappi di sughero?

The agreement between Winelivery and Amorim Cork Italy allows them to give it a second life. A small gesture for a big impact: sustainability and charity.

On the occasion of World Earth Day, the following take the field. Winelivery and Amorim Cork Italy with a project dedicated to the Sustainability: the “Caps x Caps” campaign. In a world that calls for concrete actions to protect the environment and people, the two companies join forces to launch a project that not only celebrates the cork recycling, but it will also support families in need. Because every small gesture can make a difference.

How the initiative works

Starting today, April 22, and for four weeks, all Winelivery customers will have the opportunity to make an eco-responsible choice. At the time of their orders, when they receive their bottles, they can deliver the used corks to the rider. These caps then embark on a journey to a new life as Winelivery rewards customers with the equivalent in virtual caps in their Tappadanaio, the loyalty program of the App for Drinking.

Beneficiary of the project is the nonprofit A Braccia Aperte, an organization dedicated to supporting families in need through various initiatives, including free distribution of used children’s clothing, hosting families with hospitalized children and promoting volunteerism. At the end of the initiative, Winelivery commits to donate the collected corks to them. In turn, the non-profit organization will deliver the collected caps to Amorim Cork Italia, receiving compensation in return to support their cause. Since it is a 100 percent recyclable material, Amorim Cork Italia will then handle the start-up for recycling. Amorim Cork Italia, in fact, is responsible for organizing their reduction into granules, which can be used, almost like a new raw material, for various applications, from green building to design.

The two companies sponsoring the project

Winelivery, known for its efficiency and quality in home beverage delivery service, together with Amorim Cork Italia, a world leader in the production of corks, demonstrate with “Corks x Corks” that companies can be engines of positive change. This collaboration puts both companies at the forefront of promoting sustainability practices and social engagement, setting new standards for the industry and offering customers a tangible way to contribute to the common good.

Amorim Cork is no stranger to such projects. In the 2024 edition of the Essential Guide we conferred with its CEO Carlos Manuel Veloso dos Santos. the special “Quality Project” award for the Ethics Project, a circular economy project involving the collection of used corks that are transformed into eco-friendly, fireproof designer furniture with very refined lines. Proceeds from the collection of caps are donated to some non-profit organizations.
