Gioia Cresti and Barbara Tamburini each started their collaboration with Suadela two years ago. Second Collezione degli Enologi to be revealed in April.
Suadela announced today that a further two leading Italian winemakers have joined its growing cadre, following collaborations with each of them that started two years ago. Producing wine in Italy’s most exciting wine regions, Suadela offers both familiar denominations as well as ones lesser-known outside the country, helping wine lovers around the world navigate the often daunting complexity of Italy’s grape varieties.
For its Collezione degli Enologi, Suadela works with some of Italy’s most accomplished winemakers (enologi), thus preserving its exacting standards across each range of wines. The winemakers behind the first Collezione degli Enologi, released towards the end of 2021, are Beppe Caviola, Riccardo Cotarella, Lorenzo Landi, Gianni Menotti, Umberto Trombelli and Paolo Vagaggini, and each of them continue their work with Suadela.
The eight wines of the second Collezione degli Enologi will be announced in full this April, but it can be revealed now that Gioia Cresti has made a Chianto Classico DOCG 2017 (certified organic) and Barbara Tamburini a Nero d’Avola Sicilia DOC 2019. Very different, but both outstanding wines, and as always with Suadela releases, ready to drink now yet also worthy of ageing for years to come.
About Suadela:
Suadela was founded five years ago by a group of friends fascinated by Italian wine, who wanted to express both its quality, as well as its diversity and depth, in an accessible manner. For their Collezione degli Enologi Suadela work with eight of Italy’s most accomplished oenologists, thus ensuring winemaking quality across their range of wines. They asked each ofthe winemakersto create wines that they would love to drink themselves, and that represent in the best possible manner the soil, the climate, the vines, the winemaking traditions of their Region of choice – with a preference for grape varieties indigenous to that Region. Each of Suadela’s wines released so far was made by the oenologist either in his/her personal cantina, using grapes from their own vineyards, or in a winery with which they have collaborated for many years (and are therefore intimately familiar with). The result is a range of wines unique to Suadela, either because of provenance (vineyard parcel) or because of custom blending, and limited to a maximum of 2,400 bottles per wine. Importantly, this approach has enabled Suadela to offer wines from across Italy, thus achieving the objective of expressing diversity and depth.
