The wine world loses another great man. Italo Stupino, owner of the Castello di Neive winery, left us yesterday.
He had just turned 87 on May 7. His health had been deteriorating for a few months. A wine producer with a history linked mainly to Barbaresco, Italo was known as a bright, jovial and very active character. Flanked initially by his brother Giulio, he had developed a scientific approach to the vineyard and the countryside thanks to his training as an engineer and his previous industrial activity. Starting in the 1970s, his collaboration with the University of Turin had enabled him from the very beginning to face many challenges in an ever-changing market. Many innovations related to Langa wines passed right through the Castello.
He leaves behind his wife Mita and daughter Carolina. On Friday, May 12 at 10:30 a.m. the funeral, again in the same Santi Pietro e Paolo church in Neive.
Daniele Cernilli and the entire DoctorWine editorial staff embrace the family in this time of sorrow.
