The Franciacorta Consortium is the body that guarantees and monitors compliance with the production regulations for Franciacorta, the first Italian wine produced exclusively by the method of re-fermentation in the bottle to be awarded the Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita in 1995. The Consortium’s work is divided into several activities: from the protection of the brand and the territory, to the valorization of the product through continuous work on the regulations and production rules; from consumer information to the promotion of Franciacorta as an expression of a territory, a wine and a production method. Founded on March 5, 1990, it is based in Erb usco, in the heart of Franciacorta. The consortium is chaired by Silvano Brescianini and has 122 wineries.
