To learn all about PIWIs, The Resistant Viticulture

Presentazione libro PIWI viticoltura resistente

After the signing of the bylaws of the new association PIWI Italia, the presentation of the book "PIWI, La viticoltura Resistente" was held with the presence of authors Ivano Asperti and Luca Gonzato.

In this new and unprecedented 340-page volume, free of advertisements and sponsorships, authors Ivano Asperti and Luca Gonzato recount and explain the 36 varieties to date registered in the National Register in Italy. Appreciated directly, including by winemakers, are the opinions, stories and testimonies of those who have had the opportunity to learn about and work with the specificity of these grape varieties.

The book in detail

Inside pages of the book PIWI, Resistant Viticulture. The authors describe the wide-ranging and well-detailed situation to date, showing the rapid and continuous evolution we are experiencing; there is an extensive set of original images, photos and graphics. Nearly 200 companies and about 360 wines are thus mentioned. The book attracted unexpected and enormous interest and feedback. The tasting that followed the book presentation demonstrated the level of quality achieved today with many wines from resistant grapes.

How to purchase it

You can buy the book online at: dipendechevino.sumupstore.com and at the wine shop Dipende che Vino owned by Luca Gonzato (owner of vinievitiresistenti.it and neo-winemaker), 12 R. Bonghi Street, Milan. The wine shop is also new in that it is the first in Italy to have an extensive offering of PIWI wines; in fact, there are about 120 labels currently on the shelf.

The national event The PiWi Wines.

The presentation took place as part of the national I Vini PIWI event in Venice, which was led by Marco Stefanini, newly appointed president of PIWI Italy and scientific head of the San Michele all’Adige (TN) Operating Unit in Genetics and Vine Breeding. Also present at the signing of the association charter were the Vice President Riccardo Velasco and MEP Raffaella Conte, member of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, who supported the birth of PIWI Italy and appreciated the editorial work presented here, aimed at the environmental protection and respect for the production of increasingly less impactful wines. The MEP present wanted to take a copy of the book to the Commission in Brussels, showing attention and interest in PIWI vines in Italy as well.
