Doc delle Venezie valued by internazional consumer

In 2022, the economic (+10%) and perceived value of DOC Delle Venezie increases internationally. With the new year, the Consorzio di Tutela is aiming for the growth of the DO in the domestic market and is a spokesman in the world for a fresh and versatile style that speaks of terroir and Italian character.

With 2023, a new chapter opens for the DOC delle Venezie Consortium, which, on the strength of the results achieved in the year just ended, is ready to start again with promotional and information activities aimed at strengthening its presence in the markets and increasing more and more the identity value of the Denomination at the international level. Through strategic and targeted actions that have led the DOC delle Venezie to tread the scenes of the main trade fairs, events and exhibitions, masterclasses and seminars in America, Europe and Asia, aimed at both professional operators and consumers, the Consortium of Protection is now witnessing a path of growth in the qualitative perception of the Delle Venezie Denomination of Origin by the market and an increasing loyalty of foreign trade partners, who continue to choose and support its uniqueness.
Among the main goals for 2023, the Protection Consortium has included the strengthening of promotional activities and consequently of the presence in the domestic market, which today absorbs about 5 percent of total consumption. Italy is the country of which DOC Delle Venezie is an ambassador to the world, becoming a vehicle for an increasingly appreciated and sought-after style, which many production areas are inspired by to chase market trends; a style that is elegant and versatile, but at the same time accessible. “All eyes are on us, on Northeastern Italy. This is where 85 percent of the Pinot Grigio produced in the Belpaese comes from. We are increasing our efforts to build more and more loyalty in the domestic market, certain that it can replicate the extraordinary success achieved abroad by the Delle Venezie DOC,” says Albino Armani, President of the Consorzio di Tutela, and continues, “We represent the typicality of a style, that of ‘Italian Pinot Grigio, which has conquered consumers all over the world and which, thanks to the intrinsic values of culture and territory of origin, its characteristics of freshness and versatility as well as the work of the Consortium, provides guarantees on the origin, the entire production chain and the high quality of the raw material and its processing. This is the great added value of our DOC.”

Champion of an all-Italian style and flagship of the Northeast-with all the various territorial specificities and typicalities-the DOC delle Venezie observes further growth in economic value, which at the end of 2022 touched +10% (Chamber of Commerce data), a trend that began in 2020 and is assisted by the action of the Consorzio di Tutela, which has always promoted measures to manage the production potential of Pinot grigio del Triveneto (plant blocking and administrative storage), in a framework of increasing synergy with the other Denominations of the Pinot grigio del Triveneto System. A System that with the new year will still be held in balance by the DOC delle Venezie, which is also called upon to manage the reclassified Pinot grigio quantities of the other DOs of Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Trentino.

However, the final figure for 2022 confirms a positive trend for the Delle Venezie DOC, which managed to ensure a good monthly average of 135,407 hl put into bottles, in line with the average trend of the last five years. Finally, the support of partners beyond the borders continues, who believe in the high quality standards of the Denomination and contribute significantly to its growth: large bottlers and foreign buyers from Germany, the United States, Austria, the United Kingdom, Canada and even France – citing the main countries of reference – bottled 161,065 hl in the last year, i.e., the equivalent of more than a month’s bottling, of the total 1,624,879 hl put on file at the end of the year by the DOC.
