“Il Poggio” stands on a hill 300 meters above sea level, at the foot of Mount Taburno, nestled in lush green countryside of southeast-facing vineyards that fade into the distance. Vineyards are espalier and ray-trained, with 3,000 vines per hectare and an average age of 15 years, planted in cretaceous and clay soils where grape production ranges from 90q/ha to 120q/ha. The grapes are harvested strictly by hand, placing them in 20-kg crates, and within two to three hours they are destemmed and crushed. Grapes are vinified with state-of-the-art winemaking equipment while passionately respecting tradition. Fermentation takes place at electronically controlled temperature. Pressing is done with a soft press at 1 atm.
