Marchesi Gondi
DESCRIPTION
The Marquises Gondi have been producing wines in the Rufina area for more than five centuries, having expanded their previous properties with the purchase-in 1592-of the Bossi Estate, which is still the winery’s headquarters today. The farm consists of 315 hectares in total, with vineyards, olive groves and forests. Sangiovese, Colorino (a particular clone reproduced on the farm for a hundred years), Trebbiano toscano and then Merlot, Cabernet, Chardonnay and Sauvignon are grown on mixed clay and galestro soils. Winemaking and maturation take place in the ancient vaulted cellars below the villa, and in production the Gondi family collaborates with winemaker Fabrizio Moltard.
