New opening: Contemporary cuisine, natural wines, seasonal cocktails and craft beer: Rebel and Rascasse brings a fresh, smart concept to Treviglio.
Rebel and Rascasse was born as a union of two worlds, that of natural wine and that of craft beer. Souls embodied by the two owners, Ruggero Del Zotti and Roberto Attilio Nisoli, who in 2020 opened an eclectic venue in Treviglio’s historic counter. Light lunches, appetizers, fine dining and after dinners to share the love of fine drinking with that of haute cuisine.
The location
Rebel and Rascasse comes to life inside a late 19th-century building with thick, irregular walls steeped in history. Upon entering the venue we forget that we are in Treviglio, in the province of Bergamo. Few place settings, a cozy inner courtyard, and a meticulously maintained environment surrounded by groovy music and botanical details. Furniture custom-made by local artisans between wood and iron, powder pink and petrol green pantones. As textural and elegant as the mise en place, with pottery and cutlery holders made of stoneware by ceramicist Manuel Parati to enhance each individual ingredient on the plate.
The menu
Venetian-style cicchetti, Gillardeau oysters, Italian and French cheeses, and fine artisanal cured meats. Rebel and Rascasse offers a high-quality “share and nibble” aperitif menu along with more than 300 natural Italian, French and world wines also offered by the glass and a wide selection of craft and sour beers.
Great attention is also paid to the cocktailerie side: the drink list is seasonal with thematic signature cocktails that follow the same mood and IBAs made with premium products (over 150 references in the bottle). The spirit of sharing is consistent with the environment. Upon entering the venue, one is greeted by a “social table” with ten seats and a counter where one can also sit to eat, followed by smaller, more intimate and intimate tables. At dinner, the menu is divided through four appetizers, four first courses, four main courses and four desserts, which change often while maintaining some must-have dishes such as the Uovo pochè, chef Giacomo Ercoli’s homage to his collaboration with Carlo Cracco, the Battuta di manzo al coltello or the Spaghettone alla bottarga. For both lunch and dinner, there is also no shortage of signature dishes such as the homemade Potato Gnocchi with duck ragout at the point of a knife with dark chocolate base and orange zest, made extra soft by a touch of mascarpone in the dough.
