The positive trend of new business registrations in the restaurant industry continues, although there is still a very high number of terminations.
The regions with the highest number of companies with new table service born as of October 2022 are Lazio (821), Lombardy (620) and Tuscany (422). In terms of type of establishment, Italian cuisine restaurants prevail among new openings in all regions of the peninsula, with an average of 62 percent, while Asian cuisine takes second place especially in northern and central regions (15 percent). On the third step of the podium are pizzerias (10 percent), followed by meat/fish restaurants (7 percent) and restaurants with international cuisine (Greek, French, Mexican, etc., 6 percent).
Among different geographic areas, the distribution of new restaurants by price range remains stable. The most common range (62 percent) turns out to be between 15 and 30 euros per person.
