Right in the center of Naples, on Via Santa Brigida, Brigida Restaurant – Neapolitan Cuisine is a very recent opening but already looks like a place not to be missed for good food and a very pleasant evening.
For just under a year, in the center of Naples, between the San Carlo Theater and City Hall., has opened Brigida – Neapolitan Cuisine: a place that is somewhere between a restaurant of a certain tone and a serious, modern osteria. Amazingly, we discovered it thanks to a couple of Russian friends, but they have been tour guides in Naples for more than 20 years and know their stuff.
The restaurant is tiny, two tastefully furnished rooms-one of which is topped by a mezzanine full of wine crates-paintings and Neapolitan amarcords on the walls and a nice, large glass area over the open kitchen. In warm weather there are also some outdoor tables.
One thing must be made clear right away: you eat a lot and well, according to tradition, both land and sea, always according to season.
A great meal
We started with Fried Anchovies, stuffed with bread and provolone cheese; Bruschette with Piennolo cherry tomatoes and Stuffed Pepper. Then the Octopus Casserole, Cuttlefish Soup with Potatoes and Peas, Minestra Maritata, Cuttlefish Tagliatelle with Zucchini Scapece and Almonds, Tagliolini with Porcini and Sausage, and Genovese. We finally finished with the Pastiera, Aglianico and Chocolate Cake, Lemon Tart (perhaps a little too sweet) and Rum Baba. Believe me when I say. no dish was less than very good and the Minestra Maritata was outstanding.
Also fair is the wine list
Definitely beautiful also the wine list, which is steadily growing, but already includes over one hundred labels, many local, offered at mark-ups solemnly commendable mark-ups and final hug. Good choice by the glass as well, with tempting suggestions.
Service in the room is young, polite, diligent and friendly. A tutto sovraintende the Patron, Gianluca Amoroso, who with more than 30 years of experience in the field, politeness, empathy, hospitality and elegant conviviality, well moves and cares for his clients, even the demanding and cumbersome ones like us.
We dined by choosing three different Fiano di Avellino wines of excellent value (Colli di Lapio, Marsella and Picariello), spending a total of less than seventy euros. The final bill, including wines, was just under €55 per person. Meditate people, meditate…
