Enoteca Quartino is a nice place, small and cozy, walls covered with wine, from refrigerators or shelves. Enoteca Quartino, as the name promises, is a temple of wine, but the cuisine is also of a good standard. Luciano Lombardi tells us about it.
On a cold February evening we went to dinner at this famous Roman wine shop, right under the arcades of Piazza Vittorio. Which then to call it only a wine shop is a misnomer. In fact it is also a wine bar and a gourmet bistro, with good cuisine.

But let’s start from the wine offering, which is vast, multifaceted, with many refrigerated cellars filled with bottles of champagne and fine white wines, including international ones. At the same time, from the open shelves, several hundred bottles on display, all strictly and clearly priced, wink at you, to be drunk. The proposal is nothing short of quality, with all the big names present but not only. Really you could spend hours choosing what to drink. Of one thing you can be sure: the prices are very fair. Of course, no one is giving you anything for free, but here reloads are normal, without the excesses given by name or blazon. Also good by the glass.
Then there is the kitchen, with a fine menu, with simple wine accompaniments inside as well, such as non-trivial platters of cured meats and cheeses, bruschetta, seasoned focaccia, and meatballs with sauce. But also of actual dishes, for example, pasta dishes of Roman cuisine, while at the table next to ours, they were enjoying a sizzling, fragrant grilled veal steak with baked potatoes.
All this in a cozy, finely decorated, warm-toned venue, with about 20 seats, nice glasses and young, smiling service, which never hurts.
We had a good time there, you let us know….
