Capofaro inn on the island of Salina awarded for wine list

Tasca d'Almerita triumphs in London: Capofaro Locanda & Malvasia awarded for "The Most Original Wine List in Europe 2023" category by The World of Fine Wine.

Recognition in the category “The Most Original Wine List in Europe.” of the year 2023 has been entrusted to the Capofaro Estate, located on the island of Salina (the most authentic of the Aeolian Islands with vineyards overlooking the sea), since 2001 owned by the Tasca d’Almerita family, 200 years of history behind it and five estates between the Sicilian hinterland and islands.

As quoted The World of Fine Wine on its website, “this is an award reserved for those who have been able to innovate the wine list, demonstrating expertise, experience and passion in the industry,” all values that sum up the ongoing commitment of Giulio Bruni, sommelier and manager of Tenuta Capofaro. His original idea behind the creation of Capofaro Locanda & Malvasia’s wine list is a wine atlas which highlights the wine proposals of the entire territory through special geographic connotations that can provide fundamental information decrying its flavors, aromas and colors.

“We chose to tell the story of wine through its geographical coordinates with the aim of Enhance the places where it was produced with constant dedication,” explains Giulio Bruni, – the link between the wine and the territory, the basis of the concept of wine geography that we always try to transfer is inescapable, and man’s task is to best interpret the complexity of this relationship. A wine must always express its geographical sense, describe its place of origin, and communicate its territoriality: a combination of territory (understood as a combination of soil, subsoil and climate) and agricultural and artisanal customs, traditions, so ingrained as to become territorial.” Then he concludes, “This is an important result achieved thanks to Alberto Tasca and his vision of wine geography. His point of view, experience in the field and passion for the territory have been decisive for this work.”

After meticulous selection of the various entries, a careful international jury of world champion sommeliers, master sommeliers and wine experts voted and awarded prizes, for the second time in a row, the attention and professionalism of Tasca d’Almerita, bringing new luster to the Aeolian Estate, within which there is Capofaro Inn & Malvasia, a Mediterranean high hospitality project that has already distinguished itself over time for demonstrating high standards in responsible hotellerie, as evidenced by the Sustainability Trophy it won in 2020.

Capofaro Inn & Malvasia, surrounded by 4.5 hectares of land, was created with the aim of enhancing the territory and enriching the experience of wine lovers who come to Salina to taste Malvasia, a wine that contains within it the scents of the island, the sea and the volcanic lands that surround it.

For wine lovers, Tasca d’Almerita creates a program of events aimed at enhancing the territory and its best-known raw materials.
