Vigneti di Ruché nel Monferrato (Cantine Sant'Agata)

Between mystery and tradition, the success story of Ruché di Castagnole Monferrato, a Piedmontese red wine that has been awarded the DOCG since 2010.

Ruché di Castagnole Monferrato Docg is a rare jewel hidden in the hills of Monferrato Astigiano. This indigenous grape variety, grown on sun-kissed dry limestone soils, has been making its way into the hearts of connoisseurs since 1987 (the year the DOC was born), gradually gaining an esteem that today elevates it to a symbol of the uniqueness and richness of the area.

With its black grapes laden with sugars and aromatic precursors, Ruché di Castagnole Monferrato Docg is born exclusively in seven Asti municipalities, where tradition and innovation meet to create a ruby-red, slightly aromatic wine.

Heady scents

Each sip takes you on a unique sensory journey through olfactory notes of wilted rose, violets, spices, and flavors reminiscent of blackberries, raspberries, and ripe plums, enhanced by a touch of black pepper. It is a wine that seduces with its smoothness and balance, proudly representing the essence of about 200 hectares under vine and an annual production of about one million bottles.

Back in time

The history of Ruché is shrouded in mystery, amid legends linking it to vanished Benedictine monasteries and hypotheses of ancient monastic origins. However, it is in recent history that Ruché reveals its indomitable spirit: thanks to the vision of a parish priest and the support of the local community, it has gone from being a humble vine to the protagonist of a wine-making renaissance, deservedly earning Doc status in 1987 and Docg status in 2010.
