La Renardière Restaurant by Nadine Renard

La Renardier Ristorante Francese Viale Aventino Roma

La Renardière is one of the few pure French cuisine restaurants in Rome, established in 2014 on Viale Aventino 31/33.

Playing with her surname, which means fox in Italian, 10 years ago Nadine Renard founded her French cuisine restaurant in Rome and called it La Renardière
(literally La Tana della Volpe
). Its goal is to “recreate” a little French corner in Italy, and specifically in Rome, in a place that, strategically, both because of its location and the facilities along the boulevard, is international and multicultural. In fact, La Renardière is located a short distance from the FAO and has a parterre of international clientele.

Nadine’s intent is not only to offer dishes and propose recipes that have been tried and tested and experienced with dear friends or family, but above all to introduce people to French home cooking, hence traditional, and to create a cozy, warm, intimate and above all simple atmosphere where everyone feels at ease.

The hall is collected, simply furnished but dishes are prepared daily with the utmost care and off-menu items marked on a blackboard. From raclette to fondue, from gallettes to quiches but also moulles de Bouchot and a nice selection of cheeses.

I sampled foie gras maison with warm baguette, tartare served with fries, and an excellent quiche with gorgonzola, leeks, and walnuts. Then the onion soup,
absolutely well done. Two desserts above all: tarte tatin with cream ice cream and Île flottante. This last dessert is truly superlative: a kind of custard with a fluffy cloud of meringue baked in milk. Don’t leave without trying it.

The wine list is all about
French labels. The selection is not huge, but you can drink well while not spending a fortune.
